25 Things to Do with NYC Preschoolers Before They Turn 5

As a mom of two children under age 5, I'm always looking for fun and enriching activities to do with them. And even though I'm the kind of parent who pretty much drags them everywhere—from the Top of the Rock to outdoor dance parties to Irish pubs in the afternoon—I also make sure to share those special, just-for-them experiences that seem absolutely magical for kids their age.

So, inspired by our roundup of 100 things to do with kids in NYC before they grow up, we came up with a list of the top 25 things to do with toddlers and preschoolers in NYC before they turn five. Some of these activities and destinations they literally outgrow by the time they hit kindergarten (you know how fast kids grow up these days); others can be experienced at any age but lose a bit of their luster (try taking a tween for a carousel ride and watch the eyes roll); and a few are well-known favorites that have specific attractions just for the preschool set that may be under your radar. All of them are things my young daughters and I have enjoyed doing together or are on our must-try list. I better get crackin'—my eldest is four already!/>/>
